Skaters…all this rain got you down? Join us for our Spring
Skating Sampler Series at the IHWC. The series will consist of three 2 hour
clinics designed for Skaters Basic 3 – FS ages 6 and up. Each clinic
will focus on a different Figure Skating Discipline. Join us in learning more
about the sport we love…Figure Skating!
Tuesday, April 29th, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Jump-n-Spin
Clinic will focus on just that…introductory
jumps and spins. Each skater will participate in an off-ice warm-up then view
a jump/spin video. Once on the ice, skaters will learn jumps such as bunny hops,
waltz jumps, mazurkas, side toe hops, ballet jumps, two-foot spins, one-foot
spins, upright spins, and backspins. Each skater will receive a refueling snack.
Wednesday, May 7th, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Movin’-n-Groovin’ Edge Clinicwill focus on the Moves in the Field tests. Off-ice skaters will view a MIF video
then participate in an off-ice warm-up. Once on the ice, skaters will learn new
moves such as Basic consecutive edges on the long axis, spirals, waltz eights,
perimeter stroking, forward and backward crossovers on pattern, consecutive outside
spirals, forward power 3 turns, alternating 3 turns, and alternating backward
crossovers to back outside edges. Skaters will receive a small refueling snack.
Thursday, May 15th, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dancin’ Feet Clinic will focus on Ice
Dancing with an introduction to terms and skills. Skaters will start out off-ice
with a warm up and introduction to ice dancing terms and video. On-ice, skaters
will be introduced to dance terms such as rhythm, timing, style, patterns, transverse
and long axis, carriage, extension, and skills such as swing rolls, progressives,
chasses, slide chasses and cross behinds. Partnering and positioning will be
discussed and demonstrated.
Get to know the Instructors…Barbara Fisher, Sheri Morse, Lisa Stoughton
and Bethany Vondran will be passing along their knowledge and expertise.
Join us for one clinic or try all three clinics! Each clinic is $48 for 2 entire
hours of on and off-ice instruction/supervision. Be a part of all three fantastic
clinics and receive a pricing discount. Be sure to bring/wear supportive gym
shoes for the off-ice portion of each clinic. Skating attire is strongly recommended.
A minimum of 6 skaters will be required to hold the clinic, so tell your friends
and class mates. No refunds. All skaters must be members of USFS Basic Skills
or USFS. Due to the difficulty of the skills, skaters Basic 3 and above will
benefit most from these clinics. We’ll have a great time playing fun music
and enjoying our sport. See you then!
