ROOKIE BARTON CONTINUES RAMPAGE:
Rueters News Service, March 28, 2007
The sellout crowd at the IHWC was rewarded last night with a career
high performance from rookie Sean 'Pea Pants" Barton as he
rang the bell twice in the first period. Barton had also scored
in his previous game against a large, black plastic sheet with
holes cut in it, making for a three goal performance in juts two
games. What the spark behind Barton's performance has suddenly
become the grist for the locker room rumor mill. When reached at
her vacation trailer in Otway Ohio, Barton's wife further primed
the speculation with her statement that maybe if she painted the
lawnmower like a Zamboni, Barton might be inclined to push it once
in a while. Statement form the opposing side did nothing to quell
the controversy "I don't know if it is steroids, blood doping,
or what, but when you see a Rudi like that put two in the goal
that quick, something's not right" said a big guy no one knew.
However, League Commissioner Kevin "Oh" Lord brought
a well grounded view "Did you see him at the beginning of
the season, I mean, he had to improve, right?"
With the two goals came news that Barton had been elevated to
the D4 level for the spring season. Barton was elated 'It doesn't
matter that there no longer is a D5, the point is I am D4 now,
with my sights set on D1". Barton said his strategy is simple "I
don't pass, and don't intend to, when I get the puck I shoot it
toward the goal, and when I don't have the puck, I stand in front
of the goal, this isn't about 'team' play, it's about me, and my
team-mates need to understand that". When reached in his IHWC
team office for comment, league president Steve" anyone up
for a summer league" Bolyard simply asked if anyone wanted
to play hockey after open hockey.
Next up for Barton is a Sunday league game where he hopes to continue
this impressive streak.
