it safe?
Ice Hockey is a contact sport. However, with
proper equipment, training, direction and guidance most potential
injuries can be avoided. Every individual participating in
Youth Hockey at the IHWC is required to have the correct and
proper-fitting equipment at all times.
This
includes:
- Hockey
skates
- Shinguard/kneeguard
combined unit
- Cup
and athletic supporter (male and female)
- Chest
protector/shoulder pad combined unit
- Mouthguard
- USA
Hockey-approved helmet with full-face cage or shield
- Elbow
pads
- Gloves
- Hockey
pants (incorporating kidney and thigh protection)*
- Hockey
stick
- Also,
a Neck guard is optional, but strongly recommended

Why
Hockey:
Ice
Hockey is one of the fastest-growing amateur sports in The
US today. The US Military has listed Ice Hockey among the
best cardiovascular exercises around.
Hockey is unique as a sport in that it requires strength,
speed, agility, endurance, balance and coordination like no
other. Also, it is a sport that can be played with equal success
by all types of individuals. Many NHL greats and Hall-Of-Famers
were under six feet tall!

Can I Get Started?
By selecting
Sign Up for Hockey, The IHWC will collect your information
and try to match you with a new or existing team that best
meets your needs for a positive Adult League experience. If
necessary you may make requests to be placed with a team based
on individual preferences and we will do all we can to accomodate.

Good Do I Have To Be?
Whether
you are a finely-honed skated or a beginner, the Adult Hockey
leagues at The IHWC can accomodate you abilities and interests.
We offer several league levels and are constantly striving
to make sure our leagues are balanced and fair for everyone
involved. We always encourage a good balance among more-experienced
and les-experienced players to promote fair play, learning
and equal ly competitve teams.
What
About Fighting?
Ice
Hockey play at the IHWC is governed under the rules of USA
Hockey. And, although fighting is often a part of professional
and semi-professional hockey, the IHWC has a zero-tolerence
policy in regard to fighting. Fighting infractions may result
in either player suspensions from the league or expulsion
from the IHWC.
